You can drive there pretty easily from Bakersfield.
You can drive to some corn maze in about forty? minutes, and from
there you can see the Seattle Space Needle.
You can also drive to Branson Missouri, Bronson Missouri :-), and the
site of the Tennessee World's Fair, without too much trouble. I heard
that the remaining buildings from the old Tennessee World's Fair are
used to store women's wigs now.
Did you know that Smithers is black? And one time, he was gay?
There is a Navy base and an Army base in Springfield. And an old
business district that was used for gutting fish, that was filled with
fish industry workers and allied tradespeople.
The radio station's call letters start with 'K', don't they? This
means that it is West of the Mississippi.
How many cities in the USA have a decrepit nuclear power plant, a
bridge over a river that is the only way out of town, a monorail, an
escalator to nowhere, and were founded by people who wanted to have
sex with their cousins in a state that was founded by circus freaks?

Springfield is near the legendary "Riverdale", home of Archie from
Archie Comics. Riverdale is based on Haverhill, Massachusetts, my
dad's hometown, and is near the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant. The
bridge over the Merrimack River does look a lot like the bridge out of
town in Springfield, btw. Haverhill does have a neighborhood called
Riverdale, BTW. But, I digress.
